I’m very excited to announce that the new website for Identifying Nelson/Buscando a Roberto is here! So what’s new about it? Well… actually not much, just now the site is integrated with WordPress. This means we will be able to update all of you more often about the progress of the film.

A little bit of history.

The site for Identifying Nelson/Buscando a Roberto was created by a friend of mine named Cedric. Cedric and I met during my second Kickstarter campaign to write the e-book A Kickstarter’s Guide to Kickstarter.

Cedric was one of my first backers and messaged to say how he much he liked the project. We got to talking and realized that Cedric had worked on a letter writing campaign for amnesty international in the early 90’s, in an effort to end the civil war in El Salvador.

Cedric who has a background in painting, music, publishing, and web design offered to help create a website for our film. While he was at it, he also created a website for my mother’s book Missing Mila, Finding Family. Both my mother and I love the way the websites turned out.

You can check out more of Cedric’s work at his website DISCREETCASES.com.

So what exactly did you do?

Well to tell you the truth, not much. Cedric did most of the hard work for us. All I did was convert his design into a basic WordPress theme.

If you have ever played around with WordPress you know that creating your own theme can be a little tricky. However, after a few weeks of hacking I got it to work. There may still be a few design flaws but we should have it smoothed out soon.

Why do you need a WordPress site?

For those of you who have no idea what I mean when I saw “WordPress,” it is a piece of software that lets you easily update a website. You have the ability to write updates (like this one) and post them to your site. The WordPress software is used by a whooping 17.7% of all sites on the internet, and now ours does too!

WordPress will allow us to communicate with you a lot more frequently. It will also allow us to host our very own Podcast about the making of our documentary film. (A Podcast is an internet radio show that anyone can produce.) More about that to come!

How do I stay updated?

I know what you are thinking: All of this sounds great but how am I going to keep up with everything? Well you have a number of options. You can follow us on Facebook or on Twitter or you can sign up for our email newsletter.

The Identifying Nelson/Buscando a Roberto newsletter goes out about once or twice a month. It contains only the most important news about the film and is the best way to keep updated about our progress. You can sign up here.
